I have never done any dieting in my life. Not because I look like a supermodel, but because I am a hardcore foodie :) However, of late, I have been told to start losing weight for health reasons.
I have an extremely sedentary lifestyle, and there was no way I could fit in gym-time in my schedule. So, I thought - let's try a diet! Now given the fact that I LOVE food, I needed a diet where I didn't have to starve myself, and where I had enough motivation to continue the diet. After some surfing on the internet, I came across a diet that seemed to meet my criteria. It was the GM diet. After going through numerous blogs and message boards, I finally started the diet.
sugar, oil or spices.On the first 3 days, I had no salt. I started adding a little salt to my soup and salads from Day 4. And, on all days, I had 2.5-3 litres of water. Day 1:: Breakfast: Melon Lunch: Melon, orange Dinner: Apple, Orange Snacks:Apple, Orange It was difficult. By the end of the day, I had a splitting headache and took a Dispirin. Day 2:: Breakfast: One boiled potato with butter Lunch: Cucumber, Lettuce, Tomato, Onion - salad Dinner: Boiled broccoli, cabbage, green beans, and cauliflower Snacks: Cucumber, Lettuce, Tomato, Onion - salad It was again quite difficult. But I made sure that I ate whenever I felt even a little bit hungry. Day 3:: Breakfast: Apple Lunch: Apple, Orange, Melon Dinner: Boiled cabbage, green beans, and cauliflower with raw onions and green chillies Snacks: Apple, orange This day was much easier. Day 4:: Breakfast: Banana Shake (1 glass skimmed milk+2 bananas) Lunch: Banana Shake (1 glass skimmed milk+2 bananas) Dinner: Soup (celery, cabbage, tomato, onion, green chilli +salt)+ 1 glass milk Snacks: 2 bananas I don't like milk. So, this was extremely difficult for me. Day 5:: Breakfast: quarter cup brown rice+ 1 tomato Lunch: quarter cup brown rice+ 1 tomato Dinner: half cup brown rice+ 4 tomatoes Snacks: 1 tomato It was my off day. I was at home all day - mostly resting. So, this went pretty smoothly. Day 6:: Breakfast: quarter cup brown rice with vegetables Lunch: quarter cup brown rice with vegetables Dinner: Soup (cabbage, tomato, onion, green chilli +salt) Snacks: Subway Chicken Salad (no jalapeno, olives, pickles or dressing) It didn't even feel like I was on a diet! Day 7:: Breakfast: quarter cup brown Lunch: Cucumber, tomato Dinner: Orange, Apple, Cucumber, Lettuce, Onion, Raddish salad with salt Snacks: Orange, apple I could not manage to drink any fruit juice. So, Day 6 and Day 7 were similar for me. The best thing about this diet is that there was atleast some weight loss on every day except the 5th. So, it's extremely helpful for impatient people like me who want fast results. Also, there was no starving! On the 8th day when I measured my weight, I saw that I lost 4.5 kg -which is great! More importantly, I am more energetic and positive. (I don't know whether these are the effects of the diet or not.) And, my old clothes fit me again :) After a break of 4-5 days, I will repeat the GM diet. This time, I will substitute the brown rice on Days 5 and 6 with fish. Best of luck to me! |
